Your first visit

New to acupuncture?  Feel free to contact me on the appointments page.

You can expect your first visit to be 60 to 90 minutes.  We will discuss the reason for your visit, your health history and you will receive an acupuncture treatment.

If you are curious about what your insurance will cover, here's a checklist to ask your health insurance representative.  Typically the phone number to call is on your insurance card.
1. Is Nancy Ishii "in-network" with my insurance plan?  If not, are there "out-of-network" benefits available on my plan?
2. Do I need a referral?
3. Do I need a pre-authorization?
4. Does the deductible apply?  If so, what is my deductible?  How much has been met?
5. What is my copay and/or coinsurance?
6. How many acupuncture visits are allowed on my plan per year?  Is this a combined visit limit with other services (ie, massage, chiropractic, etc.)?
7. Will my diagnosis be covered by my plan?  (back pain, specific symptom or disease, etc.)

To prepare for your visit, please eat a light meal or snack an hour or two before your appointment.  Bring your completed health history and consent forms.  As part of your treatment, please wear clothing that will allow access to your arms and legs.
